Functions Of the Accountant General Of Gombe State

 

Serves as the chief accounting officer for the receipts and payments of government of the State;

Supervise the accounts of State Ministries and Extra–Ministerial department;

bullet

collates, present and publish statutory financial statements of account required by the Minister of finance;

bullet

Manage State Government Investment (Investment Division);

bullet

Maintains and operates the accounts of the Consolidated Revenue Fund, Department Fund, Contingencies Fund and other public funds and provides cash backing for the operation of the State Government;

Maintains and operates the State account;

bullet

Establishes and Supervises Gombe Pay Offices in each Local Government of the state;

bullet

Conducts routine and in-depth inspection of the books of accounts of Gombe State Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Department to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and Internal Audit Guides;                     

 

Investigates cases of fraud, loss of funds, assets and store items and other financial malpractices in Ministries/Extra–Ministerial department;

Provides financial regulations and issues Treasury Circulars to state Ministries/Extra – Ministerial Departments to ensure that there are adequate systems in public funds and for the co-ordination of the collection and disbursement of public funds and for the co-ordination of accounting systems;

Ensure Revenue Monitoring and accounting

Issues officially approved forms bearing Treasury Numbers for use in all state Ministries to ensure uniformity;

bullet

Formulates the accounting policies of the state Government;

bullet

Responsible for loans servicing and public debt management;

bullet

The office also manages all the State Pay Offices (SPOs) in the 11 LGA of the State.
